2003 Marching Season Quotes
Throughout the marching season, a number of quotes and short stories were given to me to read and share with the entire band. I think that we read most of them and all of them are very good. Here they are for all to enjoy. Thanks for the memories.
Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds. Welcome the task that makes you go beyond yourself. Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans. We can't take any credit for our talents. It's how we use them that counts. Nothing is interesting if you're not interested. Ability is what you're capable of doing.....Motivation determines what you do....Attitude determines how well you do it. A wise person knows he is the weakest when he thinks himself strong. Do it well or do it twice. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll be among the stars. What someone else tells you is not as important as what your heart tells you. Individuals play the game - teams win championships. Never, never, never, never, never give up. The sin isn't in falling down, it's in staying down. If you want to enjoy the rainbow, be prepared to endure the storm. To accomplish great things, we must not only act; but also dream; not only plan but also believe. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. The world may be ending at 10:00 in the morning, but we have band practice at 2:00 p.m. There's no limit to how much good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit. Before anything else, getting ready is the secret to success. If you have enthusiasm, you have 90% of what it takes to be successful. Three D's to be successful...Desire, Discipline, Dedication! It's not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy. The bee is praised...the mosquito is swatted. If you choose two rabbits, both will escape. Courage is fear that has said it's prayers. Never look down upon anybody unless you are helping them up. Individuals play the game, but teams win championships. No person was ever honored for what he received, honor has been the reward for what he gave. Give the world the best that you have, and the best will come back to you. Wise men have long said, "You are what you think." Program your mind to think positively about your achievements. It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself. He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything. To succeed, you need talent and desire - but desire must come first. When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us. One thing you can't recycle is wasted time! You get the best out of others when you are giving the best of yourself. A wise man once said, I BELIEVE! |
