Alma Mater
The Alma Mater for E.D. White Catholic High School was written by R. Gibbens Robichaux in 1967. Mr. Robichaux says that he was inspired and wrote the song in 15 minutes. Why is this little tidbit included in Vanguard Memories?  Well, Mr. Gibbens is an alumnus (1947) and was an early member of the band boosters.   He also had three children in the Vanguard, Vicky (1973), Tim (1979) and Chris (1990); two daughters-in-law, Janet (1976) and Michele (1978); and his grandson Michael is a Freshman and currently in the Cardinal Vanguard.  Needless to say, he has many ties to the band.

The words of the Alma Mater are as follows:

All hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Edward Douglas White.
We love those hallowed halls and spirit
To do what is right.

In God we base our goals in life
And then we carry on.
All hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Edward Douglas White

In you we have our faithful hope
Edward Douglas White.
The light that keeps our lives so bright
The eternal light.

In God we base our goal in life
And then we carry on.
All hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Edward Douglas White.
